Thirty-one choral students from the three high schools in Dorchester School District Two earned spots in the South Carolina All-State High School Choir.
Out of the 1,486 students to audition across the state, just 508 performers received this All-State honor from the South Carolina Music Education Association. DDTwo’s strong performance this year almost triples the 11 students chosen for the ensembles last year, reflecting students’ talent and the hard work of the exceptional choir teachers in the district’s Fine & Performing Arts program. The chorus directors are Robert Culbreth from Ashley Ridge High School, Lindsey Esterdahl from Fort Dorchester High School, and David Richardson from Summerville High School.
“It is an incredible honor to be selected for these ensembles and to represent Dorchester School District Two on the statewide stage,” said Director of Fine & Performing Arts Jason Walsh. “Our world-class students and educators are thrilled for this opportunity to showcase their skills.”
This activity is sponsored by the South Carolina Music Education Association and features three choirs that will meet, rehearse, and perform in March 2023 at Winthrop University.
