Hello! My name is Hannah Tripp and this is my third year serving as the school counselor at Givhans.
I completed my undergraduate degree in Organizational Leadership through USC's Palmetto College at USC Salkehatchie in 2012 and my graduate degree in Professional School Counseling at The Citadel Graduate College in 2015. I worked for two years in higher education as an admissions counselor before beginning my school counseling career at Colleton County High School.
I have a strong desire for all students to leave our program with a plan for their future. You may hear your student discussing our "3 Es" (Enlisted, Enrolled or Employed) - we often use this terminology when discussing student's future goals. In a constantly evolving world, it isn't reasonable to think that all students must follow the same plan, but it is essential for all students to have a plan. You, your student, and I will be meeting this school year to discuss their plan during their IGP Meeting (grades 8-12). Please do your best to join us either in person or via phone for this important conference.
My role as a school counselor is to support your student's personal/social, academic and career exploration goals. I strive to be a counselor who encourages students to reach higher than any limitations that may surround them while providing them with the tools that they need to reach their personal definition of success. I look forward to getting to know you, and your student, this school year!
