My name is Marcel "Marcy" Brown, and I am proud and consider it my privilege to serve as the principal of Eagle Nest Elementary School. My educational journey began at South Carolina State University, where I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education and, onto The Citadel, where I received a master's degree in Educational Leadership. I also received National Board Certification in Early Childhood Literacy in 2008 and served as Beech Hill Teacher of the Year and Dorchester District Two Honor Teacher of the Year in 2004.
Born and raised in Va. to a family of educators, I have been dedicated to public education and Dorchester District 2 since 1994. I have previously taught in Berkeley Elementary (Berkeley Co.), Windsor Hill Arts Infused Elementary, Newington Elementary, and Spann Elementary, in the positions of kindergarten, first grade, reading interventions, Title 1 Facilitator Reading Coach, and Assistant Principal. I am elated to share my skills as an educational leader at Eagle Nest and work with families as a partner in education to continue to provide students with a quality education.
Inclusivity, diversity, and positivity are the cornerstone attributes to the culture I embrace. I have a relentless commitment to putting students at the center of all we do and believe that leadership is an opportunity to serve. It is my goal to provide a safe, nurturing, and equitable learning environment for all students.
My husband and I are semi-empty nesters of two children and a son-in-law. I enjoy hanging with my kids when they are in town, going to the beach, watching movies, porch sitting, Sunday brunch, and outdoor walking.
I look forward to coming to work each day, partner with you in your child's education, serving and sharing our love for children. At Eagle Nest, we RISE to take FLIGHT.
