COVID-19 updates for students and staff

Recently the CDC and DHEC released updated COVID19 guidance for individuals under isolation and quarantine. Dorchester District Two has reviewed this information in order to implement any changes needed for students and staff. These changes include reduction in isolation time and modified criteria for those considered “fully vaccinated”. Full details of Dorchester District Two’s updated isolation and quarantine guidelines can be found on the District website.

Please note: if you or your student are currently under District isolation we will be in touch with you to adjust return dates as needed.

We would like to remind the community that Dorchester School District Two is offering free COVID-19 testing for District students and employees Monday through Friday at 115 Devon Road in Cottage 28 (located behind Knightsville Elementary School).  Operating hours are as follows:

  • Monday, Wednesday, Friday  9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday & Thursday   10:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

These tests have been made available through a grant in partnership with the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control and are voluntary.  Both rapid and PCR testing is available. Individuals wishing to be tested must pre-register using the Registration Form. Form can be found at: COVID19 testing registration.

Parents and staff members are encouraged to remain diligent in at-home symptom monitoring and asked to please remain home or keep their child home when ill. COVID19 symptoms can include cough, shortness of breath, loss of taste/smell, headache, fatigue, stomach upset, runny nose, sore throat, and others.

All COVID19 situations (positive tests, symptoms, exposure, etc.) can be reported to your School Nurse or the Director of Nursing Services (asantamaria@dorchester2.k12.sc.us)
