I am excited to be the Administrative Intern at Sand Hill Elementary this year. I grew up in Vermont and fell in love with Charleston in 1995 when I stepped off a plane after being in a foot of snow and was greeted with sunshine and warm air. I attended Charleston Southern University where I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. Through my teaching career, I knew that I wanted to continue to grow as an educator and leader. I received my Master’s degree in Education from Lesley College in 2003 and then in 2017 I received a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership for the University of South Carolina. I spent 10 years teaching kindergarten and first grade in Berkeley County. As I began my own family, I wanted my children to attend their home schools and so I moved and became a teacher at Flowertown Elementary. During my time at Flowertown I served as a first-grade teacher, a Reading intervention teacher, a Behavior specialist/PBIS lead, and the Instructional Technology Specialist. For the last three years I have been a lead teacher at Meeting Street Academy in Charleston. I am grateful that my journey into school leadership has brought me “home” to Dorchester School District Two and Sand Hill Elementary. I look forward to this opportunity to Learn, Grow, and Serve alongside the Sand Hill Family!
