This is the second year Amanda Hodges will serve River Oaks Middle in an administrative position. In 2003, she started teaching middle school ELA in Ohio, where she was born and raised and has taught ELA grades 6-12 and everything in between until she began her work in administration. She earned her bachelor’s degree in secondary education at Youngstown State University and then went on to get a master’s degree in Literacy Education from The Citadel and another master’s degree in administration from Charleston Southern University. Ms. Hodges comes from a family of educators and administrators and truly views her work as a calling, rather than a job. She believes that forming relationships is the secret to student success and strives to build positive relationships with all students and staff. Amanda loves spending time with her children, cooking, traveling, hiking, listening to live music, exploring the Charleston food scene, and making new friends wherever she goes. Ms. Hodges currently resides in Summerville with her two children, Sullivan (9) and Rigby Louise (4).
