Career Biography- Charles Jaeson May
Mr. May was born and raised in a small town, Stanford, KY. He attended school in Stanford through high school where he graduated from Lincoln County High in 1991. He then moved on to Eastern Kentucky University in pursuit of his Bachelor of Arts in teaching and earning his teaching certificate.
August 1991 - May 1995 he attended Eastern Kentucky University where he pursued a Bachelor of Arts Degree in teaching. Once he graduated from EKU he began searching for schools on the east coast to start his teaching career.
July 1995, Mr. May interviewed for a teaching position at DuBose Middle School. He was hired to work as a visual arts teacher where he continued to work for the next 20 years. Mr. May’s love for teaching continued to grow and after 20 years, was encouraged and motivated to move on to the high school level to continue his love for teaching.
Mr. May then went on to teach Media Arts at Summerville High School. There he taught all grades and continued his passion for teaching. After a few years of teaching at the high school level, Mr. May felt a strong desire to go into administration and obtain a leadership degree. Mr. May continued to teach and at night, worked on obtaining a masters in educational leadership through the American College of Education. Mr. May earned his master’s degree in leadership and begin the application process.
May 2018, Mr. May interviewed for a position in leadership and fortunately was offered an assistant principal position with Oakbrook Middle School.
Mr. May is currently serving as Assistant Principal at Oakbrook Middle School in Ladson, SC. May agrees it is the Oakbrook community, students and staff make Oakbrook Middle School and outstanding school.
Mr. May lives in Mount Pleasant with his wife, Angela, and their 2 boys; Maeson and Aeden.
