Mr. Brandon Pitcher
Mr. Pitcher was born in Charleston, SC but raised in South Bristol, Maine. He attended Lincoln Academy High School in Newcastle, Maine and graduated in 1986. He attended the College of Charleston in Charleston, SC graduating in 1990 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and a South Carolina Teaching Certificate. He is Highly Qualified in Biology and General Science.
From 1991 until 2001 he taught Biology, Physical Science, Marine Science and Environmental Studies at Goose Creek High School in Goose Creek, SC under the Berkeley County School District.
In 1995 he joined the South Carolina Army National Guard (SCARNG), serving locally at A Company in Moncks Corner, SC. That same year he married his wife, Susan. In 1998, Mr. Pitcher received a commission as an officer in the U.S. Army and S.C Army National Guard and went back to school for his Master’s Degree in Secondary Administration at the Citadel College of Graduate Studies.
In 2000, Mr. Pitcher earned his Master’s Degree in Secondary School Administration from the Citadel College of Graduate Studies and became an Assistant Principal for Dorchester School District Two in 2001. He served as an Assistant Principal at Summerville High School in Summerville, SC from 2001 until 2006. In 2001, a month after September 11th, Mr. Pitcher was deployed for homeland defense under Operation Noble Eagle with the SC Army National Guard and returned in the fall of 2002.
In an effort to learn “the ropes” of middle school, Mr. Pitcher served as an Assistant Principal at Alston Middle School in 2006. Later that same year he was deployed again in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, to Afghanistan, as a company commander for Alpha Company 1st-118th Infantry Battalion of the Low Country. He returned to Dorchester School District Two in 2008 to serve as an Assistant Principal at Gregg Middle School until the end of the 2009-2010 school year.
Mr. Pitcher served as an Assistant Principal at Ashley Ridge High School in 2010-2011. He was again deployed with the SC Army National Guard to Kuwait in the 2011-2012 and half of the 2012-2013 school year. He returned to the United States, his Family and to Dorchester School District Two in the spring of 2013.
Mr. Pitcher then served as an Assistant Principal at Oakbrook Middle School in Ladson, SC from 2013-2015. He was selected to become Principal of Oakbrook Middle the summer of 2015 and has just completed his third year as principal. The Oakbrook community, students and staff make Oakbrook Middle School an outstanding neighborhood school that has received Palmetto Gold and Silver awards for performance and improvement.
Mr. Pitcher lives in Summerville with his wife, Susan, and their 3 children: Brettan, Graycen, Colton and their German shepherd, Zowie.
