Mrs. Donohue

I've been teaching since 1997, and I’ve been a part of the Oakbrook Elementary family since the 2000 school year. Before that, I taught at two other schools, several years in 3rd grade and part of a year in 4th grade. Since coming to Oakbrook, I've loved being a part of our dynamic 5th grade team. I've also previously coached our math team and served as an assistant Robotics coach. In addition, as part of the Math Task Force, I also worked for eight years helping to craft math curriculum tools for the school district. I previously taught all subjects, but I currently teach math, science and social studies. I LOVE teaching math because of how it affects our everyday lives. Growing up in a military family, I moved a great deal, so I have a special place in my heart for children who struggle with math because of holes in their previous learning. I believe that helping children to be the best they can be should be accomplished through fun, engaging, challenging activities and lessons that are presented in a welcoming, nurturing atmosphere utilizing a great variety of techniques. I welcome each of you to come and visit our classroom family.

  • FAQ:

    How does homework work?

Math homework is unfinished work from class, practice for tests using math journal notes and websites on the provided Math Resource sheets.  Practice daily writing our facts to be sure you are fluent with basic multiplication, division, addition and subtraction facts.  Science and social studies should be studied nightly using provided study guides and Quizlet.

Students may re-do any graded paper on which they’ve scored a 70 or less.
