Mr. Weinhold is originally from Lewiston, Maine, but moved to South Carolina in 1997. Mr. Weinhold grew up in Columbia, South Carolina and attended college at the University of South Carolina where he pursued a Bachelor's degree in English with a focus in Secondary Education. He later went on to earn his Master's in Teaching, also from USC and stayed in the city to begin his career. After having taught at Ridge View High School and Irmo High School during college, Mr. Weinhold accepted a position teaching English 1, 3, and Reading Seminar at Richland Northeast High School. Mr. Weinhold began teaching at Fort Dorchester in 2017 and has since been involved with the International Baccalaureate Programme.

Although he has always had a love for language and literature, Mr. Weinhold never planned to become a teacher. Before teaching, Mr. Weinhold was a traveling musician and worked as a Graphic Designer. These unique perspectives helped to form his teaching philosophy and style. Mr. Weinhold intentionally creates units and plans lessons that are interactive and engaging for students. He believes that the classroom should be a community where students are okay with making mistakes in the spirit of growth.

Mr. Weinhold believes in community and equality, and as such, is passionate about advocating for social justice and empowering students: "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere."

Coffee, Powerlifting, and travel are three of Mr. Weinhold's greatest passions. At home, he and his girlfriend, Alyssa, have a pit bull named Bentley and a cat named Maya. Mr. Weinhold has been training for and competing in Powerlifting since 2012 and has broken state records in the squat and total.

Mr. Weinhold's door is always open, to anyone. Whether you need help with English, someone to chat with, or just a quiet, safe place to be.
