Welcome! I am Allyson Hossa and teach Culinary Arts.
I am originally from Illinois, outside of Chicago to be exact. During high school, I changed my mind several times, with what I wanted to pursue as a career. Teaching was something I had always thought about but could never decide what I would be happy teaching.
I started my college career at Bradley University where I finally decided on majoring in Biology and minoring in Psychology with hopes of entering the field of Zoology. After a few chemistry classes I decided that was not the best path. At this point, I started to again think about becoming a teacher and my college counselor helped me find a field that fit many of my interests. He mentioned the teacher shortage in Family and Consumer Sciences, which had me changing my major and changing schools down the interstate to Illinois State University. I graduated with my B.S. in Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher Education.
I started my teaching career in Pawleys Island at Waccamaw High School where I spent eight wonderful years. A personal move opened up the opportunity to join DD2's culinary team in 2017.
In 2014, I graduated from Coastal Carolina University with my Masters of Education in Instructional Technology.
Culinary has always been a passion of mine and I love being able to share that passion with my students.
