Mrs. Duplantis (or Ms. D) as her students affectionately call her, is originally from Central Pennsylvania. An avid Steeler and LSU fan, Ms. D has been calling Charleston her home for the past thirteen years.
Ms. D started her career in education at an at risk middle and high school in Pennsylvania where she taught her students the basics of business, as well as supported them with their reading and math needs. After transitioning out of the classroom, Ms. D became a teacher of teachers and has spent the last fifteen years in the educational consulting world. Ms. D has specialized in reading and math remediation and assessment.
What brought Ms. D to “The Fort”? Her passion for teaching young adults and her eagerness to spend more time with her family. Now with a four year old daughter, Ms. D enjoys picking her daughter up from school each day, cooking dinner each night, exercising, and she loves to attend Fort sporting events with her family.
Ms. D considers herself a life long learner. This is a skill she also works on developing in her students. Ms. D holds a Bachelors Degree in Business Education and a Masters degree in Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP). Additionally, Ms. D is in the final months of completing her second Masters in Educational Leadership from the American College of Education (ACE).
Ms. D is quoted as saying, “I’m so happy to be back in the classroom. I LOVE my students just like they are my own children.” Respect,
Responsibility and Individualism are the name of the game in her classroom.
