Mr. Paul Buyer
Paul Buyer is a graduate of the University of Illinois and the 2017/2018 school year marks his 36thyear teaching. Mr. Buyer also holds a Masters of Education Degree from Converse College. Before joining the Dorchester District Two Faculty, Mr. Buyer taught in the Spartanburg County Schools and in the Cedar Rapids (Iowa) schools. Mr. Buyer also is a past faculty member of the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts. Mr. Buyer is a National Board certified teacher, initially earning his certification in Early Adolescence Through Young Adulthood/Music in 2003. In 2013, he successfully completed the process of recertification, which will be active through 2023.
Mr. Buyer has been an active clinician, conductor, and judge in North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and in Kentucky. As a cellist, he has performed in the many regional professional orchestras including the Champaign-Urbana Symphony, the Cedar Rapids Symphony, the Greenville Symphony, the Hendersonville Symphony, and Spartanburg Philharmonic. Mr. Buyer is an active member of the South Carolina Music Educators Association. He has hosted many Region and All-State orchestra events as well as Region and All-State orchestra auditions. Mr. Buyer is the Auditions Chair for the SCMEA Orchestra Division, a post he has held since 1993.
Mr. Buyer is married and has two boys ages six and nine.
