Mr. Bracey
Mr. Bracey is originally from North Carolina, and attended college at the University of North Carolina-Wilmington, where he received his Bachelor’s in English. After graduating in 2001 he entered the management field, working for Sherwin-Williams, The Flooring Depot, and Hot Topic, all in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. In 2006, he decided to finally pursue his dream of becoming a high school teacher and accepted a position at Green Sea-Floyd’s High School in Horry County.
After a year in Horry County, Mr. Bracey decided it was time for a change of scenery and accepted a position at Givhans Alternative Program in Dorchester District 2. He taught English II for five years there, before moving back to his home state of North Carolina to teach at West Brunswick High School from 2012-2015 before returning to Dorchester 2 and Givhans Alternative. He taught English/ELA in grades 6-9 for the 2015-2016 school year before making the move to his current position at Fort Dorchester.
Mr. Bracey currently teaches Advanced Composition and AP Language and Composition. In the past he has taught Middle School ELA, English I, II, III, IV, and Reading/Special Interest. He lives in Summerville, and is married with one daughter who attends Ashley Ridge, and a son who is currently serving in the U. S. Navy. The majority of his family resides in North Carolina.
Mr. Bracey is a huge sports fan. He roots for the Duke Blue Devils, Carolina Panthers, Denver Broncos, Chicago Cubs, Charlotte Hornets, and Carolina Hurricanes. He is also an avid comic book fan, and enjoys listening to heavy metal and punk rock music. His hobbies include reading, video games, and watching sports.
