School Counselors’ Corner- February 2019
After what was hopefully a great and restful break for all of our beacons, we hit the ground running when we returned to the Beech in January. Classroom lessons on kindness, compassion and empathy are being taught throughout the school. We have been preparing for our Microburst EmployAbility Soft Skills program and have been working on its schedule, as we look to make learning interpersonal skills, teamwork, dependability, and other skills as fun and efficient as possible. This program will be delivered to all 4th and 5th grade students across the district, as middle and high schools in the district have already begun implementing the program. Microburst is a company that has been offering job training for people for many years, and they have converted that information into a program for high school, middle school, and elementary school students. To learn more about the microburst program, feel free to visit their website at https://www.microburstlearning.com/ Mindfulness lessons continue to be taught by Mrs. Masopust within many classrooms throughout our school. Mindfulness, when practiced regularly, helps students understand their emotions, provides strategies for managing strong emotions, and it also helps students improve their ability to focus.
