Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Roland

This is my thirteenth year teaching in DD2, my second at KES. I have taught all age groups during my career, from pre K-adult, including the direction of multiple instrumental and choral performance groups over the years. I have written multiple SCDE Distinguished Arts Program Grants, totaling more than $100,000 for DD2 fine arts programs. Music is the universal language.  I am passionate about teaching my students to communicate using their own unique skills and talents.

I received my Bachelors Degree in Choral Music Education from Converse College, where I also earned a Masters Degree in Vocal Performance. At Converse, I learned vocal technique from amazingly talented teachers. I sang and acted in many operas and musical theater productions and even performed opera in several European countries.

When I am not teaching, I love to spend time with my husband and three children, ages 6, 4, and 1. I have also enjoyed acting in local stage productions. I sing and assist in my church choir, and I also direct a hand bell choir.

This is a wonderful year of music making and performing for our KES students as we learn how to read music while singing and playing instruments creatively and expressively. I look forward to our musical adventures!
