It is great to see all the 5th grade Sandpipers return. We reflected on one word to embrace for the new year. Ask your child what his/her "one word" is for the year! This word can help drive your child to reach goals and achieve great things this year. I'm excited for them!
In Reading we are beginning book clubs/study groups. There are a variety of books being read in small group and the students will have the responsibility released to them to lead the group in a few weeks.
We will begin 3rd quarter with reviewing fiction stories and focus on inferring as we read.
Keep reading nightly 5th grade!
- Students should read nightly and write down the reading on the sandollar reading log that was sent home in the beginning of the year.
- Students should work nightly on Stems and Vocabulary homework. The nightly assignment is in the student's journal.
- Students can also visit quizlet.com to practice stems and words
Degrees and Certifications:
I look forward to working with the students on reaching reading goals and creating a growth mindset in life. Our class will emphasize vocabulary and analyze text. Most importantly, I hope to help students extend his/her love of reading and use a growth mindset when approaching challenges.
