Degrees and Certifications:
Hello! My name is Brittany Carter, and I am the English Language Arts teacher for the Bronco team here at Gregg Middle School. I grew up in Hampton, Virginia, but moved to the North Charleston area during my sophomore year in high school. After graduating from Fort Dorchester High School, I attended Winthrop University in Rock Hill. There, I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Middle Level Education with a concentration in Language Arts and History.
I taught in Rock Hill for two years before moving back home. I attended Columbia College in Columbia, South Carolina where I received a Master of Education degree in Divergent Learning.
It is my educational philosophy that students learn best when they are discovering things for themselves. As a teacher, I try my best to foster critical thinking in the classroom as well as creativity. Outside of the classroom, I serve as the head coach for the girls volleyball team.
I would like to inform you all of the happy news of my pregnancy and that I will consequently be going on maternity leave starting on Monday, March 18, 2019. I will not be returning this school year. I will miss each one of my students while I am away on maternity leave, but trust that they will continue to thrive under the guidance of my long-term substitute, Mrs. Hamilton.
In my absence, Mrs. Hamilton will be teaching my classes. She has been one of Gregg Middle School’s most reliable substitute teachers over the past few years, and I feel confident that she will be a good fit for the needs of my students. She also has my contact information if any help is needed.
I ask that you please take this time to review your student’s progress in their Language Arts class on PowerSchool. Mrs. Hamilton has copies of all assignments, and most can be printed from Unified Classroom. Mrs. Hamilton will have a make-up work folder for students to turn in any work (homework, classwork, tests etc. for 3rd quarter). I am still available at this time to answer any questions you may have regarding your students grades (email@example.com).
Beginning 4th quarter, questions regarding specific assignments and grades can be best answered by Mrs. Hamilton: firstname.lastname@example.org. However, please feel free to contact me if you deem it necessary, and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
Thank you for your patience and flexibility during this time!
