This will be my 18th year of teaching. I moved to Summerville from Anchorage, Alaska in January of 2013. I taught middle school Gifted Science and Algebra in Anchorage for five years. I also coached Track and Field, Cross Country running, and Volleyball. Previously, I taught Physical Science and Biology for 6.5 years at Summerville High School. I am originally from Kansas, and I served 8 years in the Air National Guard. I am a National Board Certified teacher in Adolescent/Young Adult Science. I graduated from the College of Charleston with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology with a minor in Secondary Education. I graduated from the University of Alaska Anchorage with a Master's degree in Educational Leadership.

I have three children. Marissa is a graduate of the University of South Carolina Honors College and is in her third year of law school at Emory in Atlanta. Douglas will be 22 years old this year and Kathryn is a freshman at Erskine College where she is on the volleyball team. I also have a Parrot named Jack, a dog named Daisy, a Red Footed tortoise named Donatello, a cat named Linkin, and two sugar gliders: Hamilton and Caroline.

I enjoy running and have run 5 full marathons, 11 half-marathons and numerous 5k and 10K races. I completed my first triathlon in 2012! I also enjoy spending time with my family. I am an avid baseball fan and love the Chicago Cubs!
