• Due to school being closed, we have provided a digital learning packet that will help students continue their education outside of the school building. The activities are to be completed at home during this time off. Students should be focused on Social Studies for about 30 minutes each day. You can turn in the assignments to Microsoft Teams, or email me with the assignments as students finish them. Please email me if you have any questions.

Mr. AJ Glover

Welcome to 8th Grade Social Studies at Alston Middle School. I am AJ Glover and it is my honor to teach your child this school year. I was born and raised in Summerville, SC. I am a 1992 graduate of Summerville High School where I played football as a Wide Receiver, and ran track.? I went on to graduate from Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, GA. I have a BA in History with an emphasis in African and African-American Studies. My family owns the Albert A. Glover Funeral Home, so after finishing at Georgia Southern, in 1997 I got an Associates Degree in Funeral Service and Embalming. While working at the Funeral Home I worked on my Masters of Arts in Teaching from the Citadel and graduated in 2004. After working at the Funeral Home for 15 years, I began teaching in 2011 at Alston Middle School and was named Rookie Teacher of the Year, and in 2015 was Teacher of the Year. From 2011-2015 I coached football and Girls Basketball at Alston. In 2015 we won the Middle School Football Championship, after finishing Runner-Up in 2014. I now coach Varsity Wide Receivers at Summerville High School.

I am married to Angelia Sumter Glover (SHS Class of '95) and we have one son, Alex, a 5th Grader at Summerville Elementary.? I am the the son of Albert and Elaine Glover, brother of Alaine Glover (SHS Class of '98).
In my class I stress taking Pride, having Faith, and taking your academics seriously. I also find it important that we learn to show respect to others and yourself, and enjoy the process of learning. I look forward to teaching your child this year.
