Mr. AJ Glover
Welcome to 8th Grade Social Studies at Alston Middle School. I am AJ Glover and it is my honor to teach your child this school year. I was born and raised in Summerville, SC. I am a 1992 graduate of Summerville High School where I played football as a Wide Receiver, and ran track.? I went on to graduate from Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, GA. I have a BA in History with an emphasis in African and African-American Studies. My family owns the Albert A. Glover Funeral Home, so after finishing at Georgia Southern, in 1997 I got an Associates Degree in Funeral Service and Embalming. While working at the Funeral Home I worked on my Masters of Arts in Teaching from the Citadel and graduated in 2004. After working at the Funeral Home for 15 years, I began teaching in 2011 at Alston Middle School and was named Rookie Teacher of the Year, and in 2015 was Teacher of the Year. From 2011-2015 I coached football and Girls Basketball at Alston. In 2015 we won the Middle School Football Championship, after finishing Runner-Up in 2014. I now coach Varsity Wide Receivers at Summerville High School.
I am married to Angelia Sumter Glover (SHS Class of '95) and we have one son, Alex, a 5th Grader at Summerville Elementary.? I am the the son of Albert and Elaine Glover, brother of Alaine Glover (SHS Class of '98).
In my class I stress taking Pride, having Faith, and taking your academics seriously. I also find it important that we learn to show respect to others and yourself, and enjoy the process of learning. I look forward to teaching your child this year.
