Degrees and Certifications:
Gutentag und Herzlich Wilkommen! Good day and welcome! My name is Frau Carpenter. I am from Baltimore, Maryland. I graduated from the College of Charleston with a B.A. in German with a double minor in German studies and environmental studies. I have been learning German since I was a young girl, and am 50% German. Some of my favorite German words include: der Schnurbart (mustache), das Einhorn (unicorn), and die Frikadellen (meatballs). The German language has had an incredible influence on my life. Knowing German has helped me in my acedemic, personal, and professional life. Other than German, my other interests include sustainability, permaculture, herbalism, animals, and kickboxing.
So why learn German? German is a very useful language to know with regards to business, sustainability, and manufacturing. Charleston specifically has many companies in which knowing German can help students obtain and maintain a job. Bosch, Mercedes, and Boeing are just a few in the lowcountry area! There are many job opportunities for translators as well. It is my philsophy that all students feel safe and welcome in my classroom. I always pursue a postivie learning environment in which students learn and have fun at the same time.
Auf Wiedersehen! Goodbye!
