Safety Task Force
OVERVIEW
This task force is a “focus group” designed to dig deeper into some of the issues plaguing the operation of our schools and engagement in our classrooms. The two specific focus areas will be cell phone use and our current cell phone policy and vaping/detection. The state of South Carolina Department of Education has a detailed webpage dedicated to school safety. Additionally, the following article details Rock Hill’s recent ban on cell phones. According to the National Center for Education Statistics, cellphone bans were in place in 76% of all US schools in 2020.
The goal of the task force is to re-imagine some of our protocols to better ensure we are providing the safest and most distraction-free educational setting possible for the students of Dorchester School District 2.
