Advanced Placement
Advanced Placement (AP) courses are governed by the College Board and provide students with college-level curriculum and rigor. AP courses count for high school credit but may possibly count toward college credit.
Students will take an AP exam in May; scores of 3 or higher may be eligible for college credit. Students should communicate with prospective colleges to see which AP courses are accepted. AP courses are available in many subject areas, and students may begin AP courses as early as 9th grade. Students should contact their school counselor for more information regarding which AP classes may be best for them. AP courses are weighted 1 point higher than CP classes according to the SC Uniform Grading Policy.
