Freedom of Information Act Requests

Dorchester School District Two is committed to conducting business openly and in a transparent manner. An important aspect of these efforts is to ensure public access to district records in accordance with the South Carolina Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), Chapter 4, Title 30, Code of Laws of South Carolina.

The S.C. Freedom of Information Act (Section 30-4-20) defines public record as “all books, papers, maps, photographs, cards, tapes, recordings, or other documentary materials regardless of physical form or characteristics prepared, owned, used, in the possession of, or retained by a public body.”

Dorchester School District Two School Board Policy KDB Public’s Right to Know/Freedom of Information establishes the procedures for the public to request information and records. All requests for information and public records under FOIA should be submitted in writing and should include the subject matter relating to the request. Requests should be sent to the Public Information Officer, Dorchester School District Two, 815 South Main Street., Summerville, S.C. 29483 or complete the online FOIA Form.
