Law, Public Safety, Corrections & Security

The Law, Public Safety, Corrections, and Security cluster programs prepares student for careers in planning, managing, and providing legal, public safety, protective services and homeland security, including professional and technical support.

Occupations in this program include bailiffs’ corrections officer dispatchers, emergency management and response coordinators firefighters, paralegals, and private detectives and investigators. In South Carolina, there are three completer pathways: Emergency and Fire Management Services, Law Enforcement Services, and Paralegal Systems Technology.
 
All the Law, Public Safety, Corrections, and Security skill standards address what a worker needs to know and be able to do to contribute to a safe, productive, and effective work environment. With a strong emphasis on workplace skills such as integrity, dependability, stress tolerance, attention to detail, decision-making, critical thinking, listening, and speaking, highly motivated students are prepared for their careers when course standards listed are integrated with quality instructional techniques.
