District Highlights

  • The Board of Trustees approved salary increases: $2,500 per step for teachers and a 3% raise plus a step for Classified and non-teaching Certified staff for the 25/26 school year.
  • DDTwo was named Best Place to Work by Summerville Journal Scene readers, two years in a row.
  • The Dorchester School District Two Early College Program had 58 students graduate with an associate's degree from Trident Technical College and a high school diploma in 2025. Additionally, the district ranked 12th in the state on the College and Career Readiness indicator on the South Carolina State Report Card.
  • All schools have PTA/PTSAs, School Improvement Councils, and Volunteer / Business Partner Programs. The district’s PTAs received more state-level awards than any other district in SC.
  • The district has 66 National Board Certified Teachers in district classrooms.
  • The Dorchester Two Educational Foundation contributed over $2.5 million to district schools.
  • DDTwo is a Purple Star District that supports military students and families as they transition into our community. Upon graduation, 103 students entered the military.
  • Hosted the inaugural Empowering Our Community for Students Who Learn Differently Conference to strengthen support systems and celebrate every learner.
  • The partnership between DDTwo and the City of N. Charleston provides second graders with access to free swim lessons at our community Aquatic Center.

International Recognition

  • Summerville High School celebrated 100 consecutive years of accreditation by Cognia—one of only 17 schools in the state with this distinction.

National Recognitions

  • Sand Hill Elementary was named a 2024 National Blue Ribbon School for academic performance.
  • Oakbrook Middle Principal Bentli Lewis was named Jostens Renaissance Educator of the Year.
  • Knightsville Elementary School received national recognition as a Common Sense School for digital citizenship—the nation’s only school using the curriculum in 4K.
  • DDTwo earned the 2025 Best Communities for Music Education Award for the fifth consecutive year.
  • Seven schools designated as National Showcase Schools by Capturing Kids’ Hearts.
  • DDTwo was recognized as a District Spotlight at the National HMH Insights for District Leaders Summit for outstanding program implementation and student growth.
  • Two high schools named Project Lead the Way Distinguished Schools for STEM education.
  • Seven schools honored as 2025 Jostens Renaissance Schools of Distinction.

South Carolina Recognitions

  • Fort Dorchester High School was a top-three finalist for SCASA’s 2024–2025 Palmetto’s Finest Award.
