DD2 Receives $15,500 from Summerville Italian Feast

The Dorchester Two Educational Foundation received $15,500 in donated proceeds from the 2023 Summerville Italian Feast and first-ever Meatball Run.

The community celebration of Italian heritage has donated approximately $91,500 to D2EF since 2014. DD2EF uses the funds to create STEAM education opportunities for Dorchester School District Two educators and students.

Drawing more than 10,000 attendees, the Summerville Italian Feast was hosted on October 8 in downtown Summerville after the October 7 Meatball Run. The community event showcased DDTwo students, including culinary students from Ashley Ridge, Fort Dorchester, and Summerville high schools, and student performers from Alston Middle School, Ashley Ridge High School, Beech Hill Elementary School, East Edisto Middle School, Gregg Middle School, Oakbrook Middle School, and Summerville High School.

"Our collaboration with the Summerville Italian Feast is one of our most meaningful community relationships,” said D2EF Executive Director Ralph Hayes. “These funds will make a direct impact on teachers and students, reinforcing our commitment to enriching educational experiences in Dorchester School District Two.”
