DD2 Celebrates Inaugural Special Education Staff Appreciation Day

Today we celebrated the inaugural DD2 Special Education Staff Appreciation Day! 

The district was painted red as we came together with the DD2 Special Services Parent Liaison (SSPL) Group to honor our incredible special education team, recognizing the meaningful difference they make and their unwavering connections with students and families.

Generous sponsors pitched in 200 gifts totaling $10,000 for gift bags and raffle items to our Special Services staff. 

December 2 is the 18th Anniversary of Special Education Day and the 48th Anniversary of the IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities, Education Act). Special Education Day marks the anniversary of the nation's first federal special education law, which was signed by President Gerald Ford on December 2, 1975.
