DDTwo Town Hall: January 29th

Dorchester School District Two Board of Trustees will host a Town Hall Meeting on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, from 5:30-6:30 pm at the District Office (815 S. Main Street, Summerville) to promote open communication between the school board, district leadership, and the community.

While the focus will be on district-wide topics, we welcome discussions about concerns related to individual schools, provided the conversation remains constructive and aligns with the following guidelines:

  • Submit Questions in Advance
    • To ensure an organized and efficient meeting, participants are encouraged to submit their questions ahead of time by emailing the board chair at awimberly@dorchesterw.k12.sc.us. You may also complete a comment card in person, immediately, prior to the meeting.
    • Dialogue and discussion will take place during the town hall based on these submitted questions.
  • Focus on Broader Issues (district-wide concerns, policies, initiatives)
    • Questions or concerns related to individual schools are welcome, as long as they are framed in a way that benefits the broader school community.
  • Avoid Personal Matters
    • Issues involving individual students, staff, teachers, or principals should not be raised in this public forum.
    • Privacy laws and district policies require these matters to be handled privately with school or district administration.
    • For issues specific to individual students, staff, or incidents, participants should contact the appropriate school or district staff outside of the town hall. Information on who to contact for specific concerns is available on the district website at ddtwo.org.
  • Respect Privacy & Confidentiality
    • Remarks must not include names or identifying information about individual students and staff. Protecting privacy is essential for maintaining a safe and respectful environment.
  • Maintain a Respectful Tone
    • All participants are expected to treat others with respect.
    • Disrespectful language, personal attacks, or targeting individuals are not permitted.
  • Additional Concerns During the Meeting
    • Participants who have additional concerns or questions during the meeting may submit them in writing. These submissions will be responded to after the town hall.

This town hall is an opportunity for meaningful dialogue and collaboration to benefit our students, staff, and community. By respecting these guidelines, we can create a more productive and respectful forum for discussion.
