      Summerville, SC 29485

      SITE MAP

Dorchester School District Two will open its seventh middle school in the Beech Hill area in August 2022. The school is located in one of the fastest growing areas of the district, and will alleviate overcrowding in several of the district’s middle schools.

      • The new school will serve students in 6 through 8 grades.
      • The school is located on a shared campus with Beech Hill Elementary School on property already owned by the school district.
      • The building program capacity is approximately 1,000 students.
      • The one-story facility is 119,830 square feet.
      • Construction on the school began in early 2021 and the completion date is August 2022.
      • The facility construction cost is $31 million that is being funded by impact fees and through bonds issued against the district’s 8% assessed property value.
      • The architectural firm is SGA/NarmourWright Design.

      Upcoming plans include:

Community meetings will be held to present these proposals and receive input on the attendance areas. Meeting Schedule

The process is underway to select the principal of the school who will be named soon.

The district conducted a campaign this past fall that invited the Dorchester School District Two family and the community to submit suggestions for the name of the new school. The Board of Trustees is currently reviewing the recommendations as a part of the process to name the school. The announcement will be made at the upcoming Board of Trustees meeting.

      Attendance Lines

Dorchester School District Two will adjust middle school attendance lines in preparation for the opening of a new middle school adjacent to Beech Hill Elementary School. The new school is projected to open in August 2022 and will alleviate crowding at several of the district middle schools.

When completed, proposals for attendance line changes will be presented to the community. The public will have the opportunity to provide input and ask questions about proposed changes as an important part of the process. Community Meeting Schedule

      District Office Renovation

      DDTwo District Office

      815 South Main Street
      Summerville, SC 29483

The old Rollings Middle School of the Arts buidling is currently being renovated to become the new home of the Dorchester School District Two District Office. This facility was built in 1924 and is very much a part of the history of Summerville. When it opened in 1924, it was the home to Summerville High School. We are proud to have this historic landmark as the Dorchester School District Two Administrative Office.

      John McKissic Field Ground Breaking

John McKissick Field at Memorial Stadium Renovation

On March 10, 2021, School Board members and district and Summerville High School officials joined with members of Summerville Town Council, Dorchester County Council and the Mayor of Summerville in a small groundbreaking ceremony for the renovations at John McKissick Field at Memorial Stadium. Joan McKissick, wife of the late Summerville High Coach John McKissick, also attended. The town, county, and school district are partnering in this project to create a venue for community events and concerts in addition to athletic events.
