    If you are sick and experiencing symptoms of COVID-19:
    • Remain home.
    • Students/parents should notify their school using normal attendance procedures.
    • Employees should notify their Principal or Director immediately.
    • Call your health care provider. If you do not have a health care provider, consider utilizing one of the COVID-19 resources below:

    If you are being tested for COVID-19 or have tested positive:
    • Isolate at home immediately and avoid contact with others.
    • Follow the directions provided by your healthcare provider.
    • Notify the District following the steps below:

    Students/Parents:
    Notify your School by contacting your School Nurse. If a student is diagnosed after school hours, you can contact the District Nurse Coordinator @ asantamaria@dorchester2.k12.sc.us. The School Nurse or Nurse Coordinator may contact you for additional needed information.

    Employees:
    Contact your Principal or Director as soon as possible, including after school hours and on weekends. The District Nurse Coordinator will contact you for more information.

    Contractors & Visitors:
    Contact your District point of contact as soon as possible to make them aware.


     If you may have been exposed to someone with COVID-19:
    • If possible, find out if the individual tested positive or negative.
    • Begin monitoring yourself closely for symptoms.
    • Notify the District following the steps below:

    Students/Parents:
    Notify your School by contacting your School Nurse. If a student is determined to be a close contact or household contact of an individual diagnosed with COVID-19 infection, they will be directed to quarantine per current DHEC guidelines for schools. If you need to discuss an exposure after-hours, you can contact the District Nurse Coordinator @ asantamaria@dorchester2.k12.sc.us. The School Nurse or Nurse Coordinator may contact you for additional needed information.

    Employees:
    Contact your Principal or Director as soon as possible, including after school hours and on weekends. The District Nurse Coordinator will work with you and DHEC to determine your level of exposure.

    Contractors & Visitors:
    Contact your District point of contact as soon as possible to make them aware. You may be asked to refrain from visiting District buildings until your level of exposure can be determined.


    Role Specific Guidance

    Students/Parents
    Make the District aware if your family is experiencing a COVID-19 situation (exposure, testing, positive case) so that we can act quickly to keep you and others safe.

    Employees
    Notify your Principal or Director right away if you are sick, being tested, test positive, or have exposure so that we can determine any action needed within the school community. Your confidentiality is a top priority and will always be maintained. If you test positive, try to remember when your symptoms started, who you were around at work and what rooms & buildings you were in for case tracing information.

    School staff should notify their Principal with any COVID-19 concerns.

    Operations, Transportation, Special Services, District Office, Adult Education, and other non-school employees should notify their Director or Supervisor with any COVID-19 concerns.

    Principals/Directors
    Contact the District Nurse Coordinator immediately with any information related to COVID-19 exposure, testing, or positive cases of staff, contractors, or visitors so that more information can be obtained and case tracing can begin if necessary. Provide employee contact information to District Nurse Coordinator.

    School Nurses
    Follow-up with students/parents who report COVID-19 exposure, testing, and positive cases. Report information to District Nurse Coordinator immediately for necessary follow-up.

    District Nurse Coordinator
    Contact individuals with reported COVID-19 illness and exposure to determine next steps. Contact DHEC to determine steps needed within DD2 community and begin contact tracing if necessary. Work with Public Information Office to notify impacted members of school or District community and identify any Custodial action needed. Notify Personnel for any impacted employees or school attendance secretary for any impacted students.
