Social Emotional Learning (SEL)
Social Emotional Learning (SEL) for Parents:
CASEL stands for: The Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL) is a trusted source for knowledge about high-quality, evidence-based social and emotional learning (SEL). We will be utilizing the CASEL framework at SHES this year and the SUite 360 program to help teach our students different SEL topics.
CASEL defines SEL as a process through which children and adults understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions. Click on the link below for a short video about Social Emotional Learning (SEL).
An informational video by CASEL and Chicago Public Schools for parents on social and emotional learning (SEL). The video aims to inform parents on SEL in schools and provide them with insights on SEL in their own parenting practices in order to support their children's social and emotional know-how.
