Old Fashioned Schoolhouse Bell Ringing 4A Motto

Today is the first day of the rest of your lives.

How to Help your Child Improve in Reading

1. Have your child read to you or someone daily.

2. Talk with your child about what they have read.

3. Visit zoos, museum, parks with your child.

4. Subscribe to children’s magazines

5. Ask your child’s opinion about subjects and encourage them to support it logicially.

6. Help your child develop vocabulary.  Play word games and use more advanced words when you are in conversation with your child.

7. Encourage your child to memorize short poems and rhymes.

8. Cut down on TV and use that extra time playing games.

9. Encourage your child to ask questions.  Children are very curious about their environment.

10. Provide opportunities for your child to read. Join the public library or get books from the school library.

11. Demonstrate to your child that reading is important to you.
