Eagle Nest Elementary

Welcome to ART!

We are thrilled to be starting our second year at Eagle Nest Elementary! It’s been wonderful to see all of the children’s faces again. As we begin the new school year we would like to let you know a little bit about our arts program.  Dorchester District Two Schools take pride in the arts opportunities we are able to provide to our students.

Students have fine arts classes on a block schedule.  They come to the art room for five days in a row.  During this time we guide students through units of study in which we educate them on the fundamentals of art.  Students learn the principles and elements of art as they experiment with various mediums.  The lessons allow students to express his or her ideas and create artwork that is personally meaningful. Art is an important part of learning and communicating in the world. We encourage students to explore arts from various world cultures and arts periods throughout history.  This opens many doors for students as they are able to make connections between art making and other subjects of study, such as  math,  science, social studies, and language arts.  It is our goal to meet the needs of all students as we give them the platform to find the artist in themselves.
