Eighth Grade Classroom Guidance Calendar |

· We will continue with our IGP’s for 8th grade students and their parents/guardians. Every 8th grader must have an IGP before they leave middle school. The IGP conference must include the student, their parent/guardian, and a counselor. · On Monday, February 9th, the SHS counselors will visit DMS to conduct pre-registration for rising-9th graders. After pre-registration, each 8th grader will be given a copy of their form to take home and share with his/her parents/guardians. If any changes are requested, the student must return his/her copy of the pre-registration form to Mr. Martinson. · |
8th Grade Guidance for February |

March |

· On March 11th and 12th, all DMS students will take the Writing portion of the Palmetto Assessment of State Standards (PASS). · March 26th is the end of the 3rd Quarter. Report cards should go home on 1 or 2 April |

April, May, and June |
|
· April, May, and June will be devoted to preparing for the PASS, May 12th through the 22nd, and for returning test materials. · 8th graders taking algebra 1 or English 1 will also be taking End of Course examinations. These EOC’s will count 20% of the student’s yearly average for these courses. · We will also complete pre-registration for 9th grade. Any changes to requests for 9th grade must be made before the end of the school year. Otherwise, students may not be able to get into the desired courses. |
