Welcome to Title 1 Math! |
|
Title 1 is the largest federal assistance program for our nation’s schools authorized by the No Child Left Behind Act. It requires a high-quality education for every child. Title 1 provides extra help for those students who most need it in Targeted Assistance Schools which is the classification for our school, Eagle Nest Elementary. It never replaces what all other students receive and is supplemental to the regular programs in school. This federal program makes certain that schools use strategies and programs proven by research. It requires teachers to be well trained and highly qualified to teach. Title 1 also involves parents in their children’s education with ideas for assistance.
What kind of services does Title 1 provide? It provides tutorials; extra academic materials; extra staff; more technology and Computer assisted learning; parent involvement activities and trainings; and professional Staff development for greater growth in teachers.
As a Title 1 parent, you have the right to: *provide suggestions, ideas into the development of the site Title 1 plan in a “timely and meaningful” manner *receive information in an understandable format and to the extent practicable in a language you understand *conference with your child’s teacher *have your student’s test results explained to you in an understandable way annually *provide suggestions to and annually receive the District Title 1 parent involvement and the school Involvement policy *an annual Title 1 parent meeting *meet at other times in the year in a place and time convenient for Title 1 parents *receive written notice if your child’s school becomes a school in need of improvement including your right to school choice, transportation and supplemental services *give feedback on the Title 1 Parent Involvement Policy *receive training in how to help your child succeed academically *receive information on the qualifications of the staff teaching your children *receive a description of your school’s Title 1 services and the school curriculum *provide annual feedback on the success of the Title 1 parent involvement program
