I am a proud graduate of Dorchester School District 2. After graduating from Summerville High in 1985, I enrolled in Clemson University. In 1989, I was fortunate to be offered a position teaching tenth grade English and journalism at Summerville High—Gregg Campus. After the birth of my second child, I decided that I would like to teach middle school students. I missed SHS terribly because I taught there for ten years; however, I was ready to learn more about teaching different ages and I actually thought that giving up advising the high school paper would “lighten the workload.” Of course, I’m busier than ever, but loving every moment being part of Alston Middle, otherwise known as Alston Junior High back in the Dark Ages when I attended the school. Loving teaching is easy for me because I have an incredibly supportive family. I could not survive without their help, so if you ever feel like I’ve gone the extra mile, thank them! |
