About Mrs. Derrick

Technology Specialist

           Mrs. Derrick was born in Tokyo, Japan.  Her parents were Lutheran missionaries there.  She lived there until she moved to the States to go to college.  She met her husband, Jeff at Newberry College.  They got married and had two children a girl and a boy.  Her children are grown now.  Mrs. Derrick’s daughter lives in Charlotte, NC with her husband and baby girl and Mrs. Derrick’s son lives in Boston, MA with his wife.

           Mrs. Derrick has taught school for many years.  She has taught kindergarten, first, second, and third grades.  She also taught Algebra to high school students.  She was the lead teacher at Summerville Elementary School and the literacy coach.  Now she is our Instructional Technology Specialist.

           As the Instructional Technology Specialist, Mrs. Derrick helps the teachers at SES use SMART technology to teach.  She also teaches all of the teachers how to use many software programs.  She writes our school newsletter and is the webmaster for our school website.
