First Grade in a Nutshell

 

Tardy Bell- 7:30 (tardies upset the morning routine of unpacking and doing important morning work).

Homework folders come home nightly; PLEASE INITIAL and check work every night. If homework

is incomplete, the student will complete the homework during recess.

Thursday and Friday will generally be TEST days. Please return any specially stamped papers in

their Friday Take-Home folders on the next school day.

Interim reports- they come home half way through each quarter. Please sign and return it to

the school the next day.

Absentee policy- when your child is absent, please send a note within 2 days.

Birthday celebrations– We will have a monthly celebrations for all students in each month. If you desire to send treats at that time , please let me know.

Supplies- if your child’s supplies are running low, I will let you know by placing a note in your child’s

 homework  folder.

P.E. will be all week. Please dress your child appropriately on these days. Check the calendar to

see when P.E. week is coming up.

Academics and personal responsibility will be stressed throughout the year to better prepare your child for the second grade.

Accelerated Reader(AR) - Students will read a wide variety of books and take computerized tests for comprehension. It does not matter how the book is read (them, you or a combination of the two).

Discipline- Windsor Hill has a school wide ticket system for discipline; if your child receives a ticket, he or she will bring it home to be signed by a parents and returned to school, where it will be kept on file. A ticket that is not returned the next day will result in the loss of recess. Please refer to the WHES handbook for more information. Serious incidents will be referred to the office. SOAR slips will be given for appropriate behavior in safety, organization, achievement, and responsibility.

Transportation changes must be put in writing with all the specifics. If there is a bus change,

please list the new bus number.
