Welcome to Third Grade!

Third Grade is an exciting and challenging year for your child and his or her peers.  Students are always excited about learning cursive letters and expanding their knowledge of multiplication.  They also begin their journey into writing multi paragraph compositions.

What does this all mean to parents?  This means that your child is transitioning from the primary grades into the upper grades.  It also means that you as a parent need to allow your child to become an independent learner.  During this time you are still a valuable teacher in your child’s life.

As this transition occurs, you may see your child being required to write down his or her own assignments.  You may see that study guides turn into a small booklet with notes.  Your job as a parent is to question, question, question.  Always wonder what your child is learning, but you need to allow your child to become a responsible citizen and learner.
