BODY HYGIENE
One of the initial education problems dealt with in your child’s life at school is his/her ability to get along in society. The school endeavors to educate him/her so that he/she will be self sufficient and acceptable in later life to his/her fellow workers and employers.
One of the problems the school must face with children is proper body hygiene. In this area parents approval and help is essential.
Children need adequate shampooing of their hair and scalp. Hair should be washed at least 3 times a week but if your son/daughter’s hair is oily it should be shampooed on a daily basis.
Children, for the benefit of others, need to be free from body odors. Classrooms are crowded and at this time of your child’s life it is particularly important to be careful to avoid this problem. Students in the upper grades here at Spann, need to shower, change their clothes and apply deodorant daily. It is also important that students have a deodorant stick in their back packs so they can reapply it after recess/or physical education class.
Children need proper dental care. If they do not have a tooth brush, they should have one. Toothpaste is not essential – salt or baking soda would be sufficient.
Children need to clean their nails either with a nail file or a small hand brush.
Discuss with your child the importance of not sharing combs, brushes, deodorants or contact lens solutions. This will help eliminate the possible transmission of lice and other contagious diseases.
All of this is simply part of child’s education. For this to be done, your help is solicited.
