Expecting Achievement Gaining Language Enrichment

E.A.G.L.E.

E.A.G.L.E. stands for Expecting Achievement and Gaining Language Enrichment. This program follows the Differentiated/Flexible component of the Dorchester District 2 Literacy Model. Readers develop effective reading strategies using texts on their instructional level to build comprehension and fluency. Instruction is supported by two classroom teachers and one teaching assistant in a flexible small group setting four days a week. Each Friday, small groups of students are provided extra support with phonemic awareness, decoding, building vocabulary, and using reading strategies effectively.

Starting in the 2008-09 school year, students are given extra support in math with small group instruction. They participate in many concrete, hands-on activities to strengthen their mathematical foundation.
